Mets' Juan Lagares leaves game with broken thumb

New York Mets outfielder Juan Lagares left Thursday's game against the Washington Nationals with a fractured IP joint in his left thumb.

What It Means:

Lagares had trainers come and check on him after hurting himself while trying tom ake a diving catch. in the fifth inning. He initially stayed in the game but was replaced in the lineup and the field by Curtis Granderson. The outfielder will be out of action for a few weeks, with Matt Reynolds likely being called up from Triple-A to replace him on the roster.

Lagares was slashing .269/.317/.409 with a .312 wOBA in 102 plate appearances this season.
