Pirates' Jameson Taillon deals five scoreless innings in his return to action on Monday
Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon dealt five scoreless innings in a win over the Colorado Rockies in his return to major league action on Monday.
Taillon is only five weeks removed from undergoing surgery for testicular cancer, and that doesn't look to have slowed him down a bit. He allowed only five hits while punching out five in the win, which brings him to 3-1 through 7 starts this season.
While Taillons' 2.90 ERA is strong, his peripheral numbers are a little bit more concerning, with a 4.14 SIERA with a 20.6% strikeout rate and 8.8% walk rate on the year. numberFire's models expect his production to fall off, projecting him for a 4.44 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 87 innings over the remainder of the season.
