Jaycob Brugman leading off for Athletics on Sunday
Oakland Athletics outfielder Jaycob Brugman has been moved up to first in the order for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Brugman was recalled for outfield depth on Friday, and has started every game since then. He's showing he can do things with major-league pitching, too, so it's possible this promotion is a tryout for a longer stay near the top of the order. One of Brugman's best tools is his ability to get on-base, so that will help at the leadoff spot.
The Athletics have the fourth-lowest implied total of the day (3.46 runs) against Rays ace Chris Archer, who is striking out the fourth-most batters (30.0 percent), in a power-dampening park at Tropicana Field (.956 park factor). Despite the prime lineup spot, this is a risky game for A's batters.
