Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander (groin) has been cleared to start Saturday against the Boston Red Sox.
Verlander threw a successful bullpen session Thursday and didn't report anything unusual Friday, so he's good to go. The veteran right-hander left his last outing with a sore right groin, but it doesn't look like it's going to be a nagging issue.
Our algorithms project Verlander to go 6 1/3 innings pitched on Saturday, posting 3.3 earned runs, 1 home run, 4.7 strikeouts, and 2.2 walks. We give him a 29 percent chance for the win.
