Juan Nicasio might become the Pirates' closer
Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said late Wednesday that he has considered making relief pitcher Juan Nicasio the team's new closer.
Current closer Tony Watson blew a save on Wednesday, his fifth of the season and third in his last three chances. Nicasio may not be the most talented receiver out of the Pirates bullpen, but the 30-year-old has been the most consistent, allowing just one run in his last 20 appearances.
Nicasio has a 1.35 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings pitched this season and should be picked up by those who need are in dire need of saves.
