Marlins starting third basemen Martin Prado is headed to the 15-day disabled list after spraining his right shoulder in yesterday's game.
Prado has been mentioned in trade talks for the last few weeks, and this news diminishes that possibility. The Marlins, who have been significantly underperforming their preseason expectations, lose a significant piece of their lineup in Prado. Prado, 31, hasn't had a good season by any means (.300 wOBA, -0.33 nERD), but will be replaced by Jordany Valdespin and his career .218 batting average.
