Marlins' Christian Yelich could be dealt
The Miami Marlins will be "willing to listen" to trade offers for Christian Yelich, J.T. Realmuto and Marcell Ozuna, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
Ozuna was reportedly shopped last winter, so Miami dangling him isn't a big surprise. However, the inclusion of Yelich and Realmuto -- two young players who would likely net the Marlins quite a haul -- is a bit more surprising. All three players would attract plenty of interest.
Yelich has displayed elite bat-to-ball skills in his career, posting a 35.1% hard-hit rate and .348 wOBA across 2,436 plate appearances. He's posted a pair of seasons with at least 4.4 Wins Above Replacement, per FanGraphs. The problem has been he lacks any sort of meaningful power with a career 18.1% fly-ball rate. With that said, he put up a career-high 20.0% fly-ball rate last year (still poor but an improvement), and he owns a 25.2% fly-ball rate early in 2017. In the midst of his age-25 campaign, Yelich will drum up plenty of interest as he's shown he can be a very productive player even if his power never develops.
