Edinson Volquez throws a no-hitter in Miami against Diamondbacks
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Edinson Volquez threw a no-hitter in the Marlins' 3-0 defeat of the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Today would have been Yordano Ventura's 26th birthday and after posting a tribute to the late pitcher on Instagram Saturday morning, Volquez went out and didn't surrender a hit. He struck out 10 batters, walked two and only needed 98 pitches to no-hit the D-backs. It's the right-hander's first career no-hitter.
Volquez now owns a 3.79 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 61.2 innings this season.
