Rangers' Cole Hamels (oblique) is ready for his first bullpen session
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Cole Hamels (oblique) is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session Sunday since being placed on the disabled list.
Hamels will probably throw a few more bullpen sessions before graduating to live hitters and then a full minor league rehab assignment. He is scheduled to make his return to the rotation some time in July after being placed on the disabled list on May 2 with a right oblique strain.
Hamels owns a 3.03 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 32.2 innings pitched this season. His strikeout rate of 11.5 percent is currently the lowest of his career.
