Alex Avila returns to Tigers' lineup Saturday, batting second
Detroit Tigers catcher Alex Avila is in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Chicago White Sox, hitting second.
John Hicks started in Avila's stead on both Wednesday and Friday, but the Tigers are just looking to keep their resurgent starter fresh. After a mediocre .294 weighted on-base average in 2015, Avila's bounce-back season last year doesn't appear to be a mirage.
Avila is tearing the cover off the ball in 2017, batting .313 with a 1.029 OPS, 7 home runs, 15 runs, and 21 RBI's in 120 plate appearances.
