Adam Wainwright homers, combines on shutout for Cardinals
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright allowed four hits over six innings and hit a two-run homer as the Cardinals beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-0 on Thursday.
What It Means:
Wainwright hit his 10th career homer as he accounted for all the runs either team would score on Thursday. The veteran pitcher has been on a roll on the mound as well, allowing just one earned run in his last four starts -- 26 1/3 innings.
After a poor start, Wainwright has gotten back on track as he now owns a 3.79 ERA with 54 strikeouts in 61 2/3 innings pitched this season.
