Masahiro Tanaka gets smacked around as Yankees fall to Baltimore

New York Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka was exploited for seven runs in 5 2/3 innings while picking up the loss in Wednesday's contest against the Baltimore Orioles.

What It Means:

Tanaka was tagged for four runs in the third inning and then Adam Jones added on a three-pack with a home run in the fourth. He gave up nine hits (five extra-base) and two walks while striking out four in what wound up being a 10-4 Orioles' victory. Tanaka has now surrendered six-plus scores in four separate outings this season.

The 28-year-old right-hander is now 5-5 on the year with a 6.34 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 20.5 percent strikeout rate in 61 innings this season (11 starts).
