Tigers yank Justin Upton on Wednesday due to quad strain

Detroit Tigers outfielder Justin Upton was lifted from Wednesday's game against the Royals due to a mild right quad strain.

What It Means:

Manager Brad Ausmus and trainer Kevin Rand checked out Upton after he was hampered while running to third during the third inning. He was then pulled from the game. Consider him day-to-day moving forward unless the Tigers indicate otherwise.

Upton has earned a .237/.337/.445 triple slash with 9 home runs and 23 RBI in 199 plate appearances so far this year.
