New York Yankees first baseman Greg Bird (ankle) played three innings in a simulated game on Wednesday.
Bird is scheduled to start a minor-league rehab assignment with High-A Tampa on Thursday. He looked lost at the plate early in the season and hit the disabled list with a right ankle issue on May 2, but there remains plenty of fantasy upside once he returns to an already loaded Yankees' lineup.
Bird has gone just 6-for-60 (.100) this season while hitting one home run and three RBI's in 72 plate appearances (19 games).
