Vince Velasquez exits Phillies' game early with elbow injury

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Vince Velasquez was removed from his start Tuesday against the Miami Marlins with a right elbow flexor strain.

What It Means:

Velasquez was getting rocked as he allowed one homer, one double, and a long flyout in the second inning before exiting with the troubling injury. He is scheduled for an MRI but don't be surprised if the 24-year-old is out for a lengthy disabled list stint.

Velasquez has been hit hard this season, posting a 5.58 ERA and a 37.4 hard hit percentage in 48 2/3 innings pitched this season.
