Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper has been suspended four games for charging the mound Monday in San Francisco.
Harper threw his helmet, and a couple of punches at San Francisco Giants pitcher Hunter Stickland after being hit by a pitch. The two players have a history, likely limiting the severity of the punishment for Harper. Strickland was suspended six games for his part in the bench-clearing brawl. Both Harper and Strickland have appealed their suspension.
With a .331 batting average, 15 home runs, 41 RBI's, and 44 runs scored in 203 plate appearances this season, Harper is off to one of the finest starts in his six-year career.
