Jedd Gyorko excused from Cardinals for birth of his daughter
St. Louis Cardinals second/third baseman Jedd Gyorko has been excused from the team to welcome the birth of his first daughter.
What It Means:
The Cardinals' initial lineup has Gyorko penciled in to play third base and bat cleanup, but that will obviously change. Jhonny Peralta is the most likely candidate to fill in on Tuesday with the team probably making a roster move to have another infielder for the next few days.
Gyorko is batting .316/.367/.559 with eight home runs and 22 RBI's in plate appearances this season.
