Edwin Diaz puts away all three batters in ninth as Mariners topple Colorado
Seattle Mariners reliever Edwin Diaz picked up his ninth save of the season with a perfect ninth inning on Monday in a 6-5 defeat of the Colorado Rockies.
Diaz struck out two before inducing a game-ending groundout to secure the victory for Seattle. After temporarily losing his ninth-inning role earlier this month, the 23-year-old right-hander has given up zero runs and just three hits while striking out seven over his last five outings. He carries an enormous amount of upside for fantasy owners.
Along with the nine saves, Diaz owns a 3.80 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 29.0 strikeout percentage in 21 1/3 innings this season.
