Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger (oblique) still isn't ready for a minor league rehab assignment.
Haniger suffered a Grade 2 strain of his oblique and is still experiencing soreness after taking batting practice. The Mariners want the pain to subside before sending the rookie out on a rehab assignment. Ben Gamel will continue to fill in for Haniger, which appears to be for at least another couple of weeks.
Gamel has been solid as Haniger's replacement, batting .286/.377/.419 with a .349 wOBA and 16 runs scored in 123 plate appearances.
