Red Sox diagnose Dustin Pedroia with left wrist sprain

Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia was forced to leave Monday's game with the Chicago White Sox due to what has been diagnosed as a left wrist sprain.

What It Means:

Pedroia suffered the injury during a collision with Jose Abreu at first base in the first inning. He was replaced in the field and the lineup by Josh Rutledge. Pedroia has a history of injuries to his left wrist making the chance of a DL stint more likely. For now, he is considered day-to-day.

Pedroia is batting .292/.369/.380 with 21 RBI's, and 17 runs scored in 197 plate appearances this year.
