The Phillies designated RHP Dustin McGowan for assignment Thursday morning.
What It Means:
McGowan has been horrendous this season, pitching to a 6.94 ERA and contributing a 0.16 nERD score. The Phillies are already lacking in pitching, but have rightfully decided they have better (or at least younger) options than the 33 year-old McGowan. A corresponding move has not yet been announced.
