Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Edwin Diaz tossed a scoreless ninth inning for his eighth save of the year and first since May 9.
Diaz has now made three consecutive appearances (four innings pitched) without allowing a run and appears to be manager Scott Servais' preferred go-to option in the ninth inning, despite his struggles earlier this season. He is now 8-for-10 on save opportunities in 2017.
Diaz owns a 4.19 ERA while striking out 10.2 batters per nine innings in 18 1/3 innings pitched this year.
