Kenta Maeda taking mound for Dodgers on Thursday night
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Kenta Maeda (hamstring) will start against the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night.
Maeda points to a change in his approach as the cause for the hamstring issue that landed him on the disabled list May 11. "I think I was relying too much on my four-seamer, throwing it hard and not focusing enough on getting hitters out quickly," Maeda told the Orange County Register on Wednesday night. "I think, looking back, I’m now relying on moving the ball more and making sure I’m more efficient.
The 29-year-old right-hander twirled a 5.03 ERA (3.74 xFIP) with a 1.17 WHIP and 24.5 strikeout percentage in 39 1/3 innings prior to going down. numberFire's metrics project him to record a 3.95 ERA over the remainder of the season.
