Mariners move Kyle Seager up to second in the lineup

Seattle Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager has been moved up to the two spot in the batting order on Wednesday.

What It Means:

Seager has spent most of the year batting fourth or fifth, but the recent struggles of Ben Gamel and Guillermo Heredia behind leadoff man Jean Segura has prompted the move. Manager Scott Servais is hoping the switch will also boost the sagging batting average of his third baseman recently, who is hitting just .204 in his last 13 games.

In 557 career plate appearances as the number two hitter, Seager is slashing .273/.345/.462 with 19 home runs and 60 RBI's.
