Cole Hamels beats Tigers for his first Rangers win
Texas Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels earned his first win as a Ranger, pitching six innings of two-run ball to beat the Detroit Tigers on Sunday.
Hamels had earned two no-decisions and a loss in his first three starts since coming to Texas. On Sunday, he allowed only an RBI single to Miguel Cabrera in the first inning and an RBI single to Jose Iglesias in the fourth. Overall, he gave up eight hits and walked two while striking out two.
Hamels, in four starts with the Rangers, has a 4.72 ERA and a 23/9 K/BB ratio in 26 2/3 innings. Overall, he owns a sparkling 3.24 FIP for the season. He'll face the Orioles at home in his next outing.
