New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) will head out on a rehab assignment before being activated from the disabled list.
There was thought the outfielder could skip playing in the minors before making his return, but the Mets thought better of it since the outfielder has been out nearly a month with a hamstring strain. Cespedes is expected to return to the club as early as next week.
Cespedes was batting .270 with a .411 wOBA, and .992 OPS in 75 plate appearances before the hamstring injury.
