Seattle's Mitch Haniger (oblique) nearing rehab assignment
Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment in the next couple days.
Haniger has been out of action since April 25 with the oblique strain. He felt a bit of soreness after a workout last week, but if he feels good after his workout on Sunday, the Mariners will send him out on a rehab assignment with the anticipation of a return to the bigs after Memorial Day. Ben Gamel will continue to start in his place.
Haniger was off to a scorching start in his rookie season with a .342 batting average and .448 wOBA in 95 plate appearances. He has 4 home runs, 16 RBI's, and 20 runs scored this season.
