Evan Longoria plates go-ahead run for Rays on Friday night
Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria went 4-for-5 and delivered a go-ahead RBI single in Friday’s 5-4 victory over the New York Yankees.
He had three singles and a double on the night. The Yankees tied things up when Matt Holliday slugged a two-run homer in the top of the eighth, but Longoria put the Rays in front for good in the bottom of the frame. These sorts of nights have been few and far between for Longoria so far this season.
Even after his four-hit game on Friday, Longoria is batting just .249/.312/.408 with five home runs and 20 RBI through 189 plate appearances in 2017.
