Miguel Cabrera (oblique) still out of Tigers' lineup
Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera (oblique) remains out of the lineup Friday.
Cabrera has a Grade 1 oblique strain and has not played since Tuesday. There is a chance he makes an appearance over the weekend, but I wouldn't count on it. Alex Avila is manning first and batting cleanup against Nick Martinez and the Texas Rangers.
Avila has been scorching to start the season, slashing .377/.479/.672 with a .481 wOBA in 73 plate appearances. He has a .407 average and four home runs in 65 plate appearances against righties this season.
