A's planning to hold out Yonder Alonso (knee) for next few games
The Oakland Athletics are planning on holding out first baseman Yonder Alonso (knee) for the next few games, per Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle.
The A's are facing three straight lefties in the weekend series with the Boston Red Sox making it a natural choice to rest the lefty-hitting Alonso and his sore knee. Ryon Healy should be at first for the next three games.
Alonso has started the season strong but is batting just .167 with three home runs and seven RBI's in 26 plate appearances versus southpaws this season.
