Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell confirmed first baseman/outfielder Eric Thames (illness) will be back in the lineup Friday against the Chicago Cubs.
Thames has sat out since Sunday with strep throat but was feeling good enough to make a pinch-hit appearance on Thursday; he flew out. Expect the first baseman to be penciled into his typical second spot in the lineup versus right-hander Eddie Butler and the Cubs.
The lefty is batting .292 with a 1.028 OPS, 8 home runs, and 17 RBI's in 116 plate appearances versus right-handed pitchers this season.
