Mariners leaning towards giving James Pazos ball in the ninth
Seattle Mariners reliever James Pazos could be first in line for saves while Edwin Diaz works through his mechanical issues, general manager Jerry Dipoto indicated in an interview on Fantasy Sports Radio.
Diaz was demoted following Tuesday's walk-infested performance in the ninth inning against the Oakland Athletics, opening up the opportunity for Pazos. The 26-year-old southpaw could be worth the add for the short-term in mixed formats.
Pazos owns a 2.41 ERA and 30.9 strikeout percentage in 18 2/3 innings this season for Seattle. He's 0-for-2 on save chances.
