Giants' Mark Melancon (elbow) throws bullpen session
San Francisco Giants closer Mark Melancon (elbow) threw a successful 22-pitch bullpen session Monday.
What It Means:
"I was going pretty much full go," Melancon said. The closer is eligible for activation from the disabled list on Tuesday, but it sounds like it will be a little longer than that before he returns. Derek Law is filling in as the Giants' closer.
Melancon has six saves in eight chances this season while recording a 2.53 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 22.7 strikeout percentage in 10 2/3 innings.
