Royals moving Kris Medlen into rotation
Kansas City Royals pitcher Kris Medlen will start on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles.
What It Means:
With this move, Jeremy Guthrie will move to the bullpen. Medlen has been working his way back from Tommy John surgery that forced him to miss the entire 2013 season.
Medlen has been effective in seven appearances out of the bullpen since making his return. Medlen posted a 3.40 xFIP with 8.79 strikeouts and 3.14 walks per nine innings over the 14 1/3 frames he has worked. In his last full season, Medlen had a 3.55 xFIP with the Braves back in 2013.
