Jeurys Familia

Jeurys Familia's (armpit) season may be over for Mets following surgery

New York Mets reliever Jeurys Familia will be out "several months" after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot from his right armpit area, general manager Sandy Alderson said Friday.

What It Means:

There's a real possibility that Familia doesn't make it back by the end of the season. Addison Reed is now on ninth-inning duties for the Mets, and he carries high-end fantasy upside.

Familia has posted a shaky 4.93 SIERA with a 23.3 percent strikeout rate and 1.61 WHIP through 11 games (9 1/3 innings pitched) this season. He has one hold with three saves in four chances.
