Cubs opening divisional showdown without Addison Russell (shoulder)
Chicago Cubs infielder Addison Russell (shoulder) is out of the lineup again Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Russell was scratched from Wednesday's lineup with soreness in his right shoulder and it looks like Thursday's day off didn't provide enough time to recover. Javier Baez is starting at shortstop while Kris Bryant handles right field and Jeimer Candelario mans the hot corner. Consider Russell day-to-day for now.
In 140 plate appearances this season, Russell is slashing .227/.293/.359 with two home runs and 15 RBI's.
