Addison Russell's (shoulder) status in doubt Friday for Cubs
Chicago cubs infielder Addison Russell (shoulder) could be held out of the lineup again Friday versus the St. Louis Cardinals.
Russell has been dealing with shoulder soreness that gradually got worse throughout the week and eventually led to him being scratched from Wednesday's lineup. He dealt with the same issue at times last season as well. Javier Baez will start at shortstop if Russell can't return for the series opener in St. Louis.
Russell is hitting .227/.293/.359 with two home runs and 15 RBI's in 140 plate appearances this season.
