Hyun-jin Ryu crushed by Rockies in Dodgers' loss

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu surrendered ten runs (five earned) on eight hits over four innings in Thursday's 10-7 loss to the Colorado Rockies.

What It Means:

This was Ryu's first start after a brief one-game absence due to a left hip contusion, but his performance suggests more time should have been spent on the shelf. Five runs scored in the second went unearned because of an Austin Barnes error. He walked six and struck out four. The 30-year-old southpaw's next scheduled outing is a date with the Giants in San Francisco.

Following Thursday's fiasco, Ryu is now 1-5 in six starts this season while recording a 4.99 ERA and 1.60 WHIP across 30 2/3 innings. On a brighter note, his 23.6 strikeout percentage is a career best -- but same goes for his 10.0 percent walk rate.
