Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Shelby Miller underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Wednesday.
Miller is expected to miss the rest of the 2017 season and the first half of the 2018 season as he recovers from the surgery. He has a 5.78 ERA over 24 starts with the D-backs, so hopefully the 26-year-old right-hander can come back stronger from the surgery next summer.
Miller finished 2017 with a 2-2 record, a 4.09 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 20.2 strikeout percentage in 22 innings pitched this season.
