Rays' Chris Archer racks up 11 strikeouts over eight shutout innings

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer was dominant on Wednesday, firing eight shutout innings in a 12-1 thrashing of the Kansas City Royals.

What It Means:

Archer was in cruise control allowing just five hits and striking out 11 in his time on the hill. He only let two runners get to second base and his all-around performance was his first win in almost a month. He has now racked up 59 strikeouts over 53 1/3 innings pitched and has a 3-1 record on the year.

numberFire's models project Archer to post a 3.38 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 167 strikeouts over 167 2/3 innings remaining this season.
