Giants place closer Mark Melancon (elbow) on disabled list
The San Francisco Giants placed relief pitcher Mark Melancon on the 10-day disabled list with a mild right pronator strain.
Melancon's injury is right near his pitching elbow, and with that being all the information the Giants have released, there is a bit of concern for the duration of the closer's absence. Stay tuned for more details. Derek Law will handle the ninth-inning duties for the time being.
Melancon has six saves and a 2.53 ERA through 11 appearances and 10 2/3 innings pitched this season.
