Jake Arrieta gets rocked in Game 1 of Cubs' doubleheader
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jake Arrieta allowed nine runs (five earned) in 3 2/3 innings pitched in the Cubs' 10-4 loss in Game 1 of their doubleheader on Tuesday.
The Rockies were able to collect nine hits and three walks against the Cubs starter, chasing him in the fourth inning. The defense behind him didn't help out either as an error by Javy Baez in the third led to four runs scoring. Arrieta will try to right the ship next week versus the Cincinnati Reds.
Arrieta fell to 4-2 with a 5.35 ERA on Tuesday. He does, however, own a promising 3.75 FIP while punching out 44 batters in 38 2/3 innings pitched this season.
