Braves release Ryan Howard from minor league deal
The Atlanta Braves have released first baseman Ryan Howard, who has been playing in Triple-A.
The 37-year-old Howard signed a minor league deal to try and earn a spot on the big league club, but his poor performance with Triple-A Gwinett prompted the Braves to release Howard from his contract. We have likely seen Howard's time in the majors come to an end.
The 2006 National League Most Valuable Player was batting .184 with just one home run in 42 plates appearances in Triple-A this season.
