Giants' Denard Span (shoulder) ready for rehab action
San Francisco Giants outfielder Denard Span (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A San Jose on Tuesday.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy intends to put Span back in the leadoff spot once he's ready to go, which sounds like it could be as soon as this week. His return will likely move Joe Panik to the second spot in the order while Brandon Belt slides down to the middle. Span last played on April 22.
Span is slashing .200/.245/.280 with a .233 wOBA across 53 plate appearances this year. If the season ended today, it would be the first time he ever had a wOBA below .300 for a season.
