Dodgers starting Alex Wood over Brandon McCarthy (shoulder) on Monday
The Los Angeles Dodgers are skipping Brandon McCarthy's (shoulder) turn in the rotation and will have Alex Wood start against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.
McCarthy was originally scheduled to pitch on Saturday but had his start bumped back to Sunday after injuring his shoulder while lifting weights. Sunday's game was then rained out, and instead of shifting the rotation back a day, the Dodgers are skipping McCarthy's start and keeping all the other starters on regular rest.
Wood owns a 2.48 FIP and 27 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings pitched while McCarthy is 3-0 with a 3.10 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 29 innings pitched this season.
