Blue Jays put Russell Martin (shoulder) on the shelf
The Toronto Blue Jays have put catcher Russell Martin on the 10-day disabled list with nerve irritation in his left shoulder.
Martin's injury seems to have come out of nowhere as he played all nine innings on Sunday without any issues. No word on how long Martin is expected to be out with the injury. Luke Maile will handle the catching duties with recently called up Michael Ohlman backing him up.
Martin was batting just .197 with three home runs and seven RBI's in 96 plate appearances so far.
