Kansas City Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar is batting leadoff on Monday versus the Tampa Bay Rays.
Escobar has hit in the bottom three spots in the order for every game this season, but with the Royals sporting an MLB-worst .270 on-base percentage as a team, a shake-up was needed. Escobar owns a career OBP of .295, so he may not be the answer, but anything is worth trying at this point.
Escobar is hitting .183/.220/.253 with five RBI's and five runs scored in 110 plate appearances this season.
