Reds send Amir Garrett down to Triple-A Louisville

The Cincinnati Reds optioned starting pitcher Amir Garrett to Triple-A Louisville.

What It Means:

Garrett was coming off a six-inning, two-run victory on Saturday but was sent to the minors to limit the rookie's workload. The southpaw has never thrown more than 140 1/3 innings in a season and is up to 36 already. With an off-day on Monday, the Reds won't need a fifth starter until the end of May. Garrett will likely return to the rotation then.

Garrett is 3-2 with a 4.25 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 28 strikeouts in 36 innings pitched this season.
