The Washington Nationals have shown interest in Kansas City Royals reliever Kelvin Herrera, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
The Nationals have also expressed interest in the White Sox's David Robertson, so it looks like they plan on adding a closer by the trade deadline. Meanwhile, Herrera's market value is higher now than it will be this winter and the Royals figure to be midseason sellers. At least on paper, a deal seems to make sense.
Herrera has converted on three of his four save chances this season while recording a 2.70 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 18.9 strikeout percentage across 10 innings.
