Ryan Hanigan collects three hits in Rockies debut
Colorado Rockies catcher Ryan Hanigan drove in two runs as part of a 3-for-5 afternoon Thursday in the Rockies’ 11-inning win over the San Diego Padres.
The veteran backstop was just called up from Triple-A to replace Tony Wolters, who was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list. Hanigan became just the 13th Rockies player to ever homer in his debut when he crushed solo shot in the seventh inning. He also drove in the go-ahead run in the 11th inning to make for one memorable debut.
Hanigan is a career .250 hitter with only 29 home runs in 11 seasons and 2,162 plate appearances.
